It Happened By Design

a series of God-incidence stories

Forthcoming Amazon.com book launch!

(24 hours only): From 12.00am 1st December 2008 USEDT
(4pm 1st December - 3.59pm 2nd December AEST)

By Invitation Only!

Introducing…..

“It Happened By Design” is all about real life God-incidences that have taken place in the lives of ordinary people. Extraordinary happenings and ordinary people.

In a world where so much bad is reported by the media, fills our newspapers and television reports and shows, it’s no wonder that people crave for good news stories – not just stories – but real life events that have happened to others, in order to give them, the reader, renewed hope for their own lives.

It is my hope and prayer that as you read through this book your own hope for your life will be renewed and perhaps you will even begin to recollect incidences in your own life that truly show God has touched your life. If that is the case, I would love to know about it as I’m sure that the incidences within are not the ends of this story by any means. For as long as we breath and remain on this earth, God will always be involved in our lives, whether we realise it at the time or not. Sometimes it’s not till the ‘punch line’ occurs that we look up, or look back, and see His guiding hand upon our lives.

In looking back we begin to realise that what took place was not a co-incidence at all because through God ‘it happened by design’ – His design.

Hi, I’m Kathie M. Thomas and I’ve been working at home for over 14 years. In that time I have been able to watch my daughters grow into young women whilst also running a full time business at home. It is a decision I’ve never regretted and it’s allowed me the time to follow my passion of writing and fulfil a life-long dream to write and publish books.

“It Happened By Design” will inspire you and make you think about those incidences in your own life that may well have been God-incidences - proof that God really does care about you and is interested in your every day activities..

You will read stories that tell you of His goodness and grace:

  • How God was involved in networking online to help a man get an interview for a job.
  • Connecting people through various events.
  • Healings
  • Connecting families after a long period of separation.
  • Protection of items and of lives.
  • Provision of finances.
  • Timing of events.
  • Help in finding missing items.

Do You Want to Stop Smoking?

On our blog talk radio show today (25.11. in the US and 26.11. in Australia) we invited Dr. Sally Witt to be our guest speaker. Dr. Sally has an amazing amount of experience in counselling and healing and uses many different approaches and techniques. She very much believes in seeing each person as an unique individual who will respond well to certain techniques but not respond to or even dislike others.

One of her specialties is working with fears and phobias and also helping people to stop smoking. Dr. Sally uses close to 60 different modalities or techniques to assist people to heal themselves.

I asked her whether there were particular modalities that were the “staple” of treatment strategies.

She said that NLP (short for neuro linguistic programming) was one of them. It is a technique that uses language to shift behaviour. This is the one technique that was made famous by Anthony Robbins.

She often uses hypnotherapy which is simply a means to get a person into a relaxed state and then initiating change by putting positive suggestions straight into their subconscious.

The third one that plays a big role is EFT (short for Emotional Freedom Technique). It is a method of tapping fingers on certain acupressure points, you get the benefits of acupuncture but without needles. I think the beauty of this method of healing is that once you know what to do, you can do it yourself.

We also talked about Yoga and how it is a great adjunct to all of the other modalities. It supports people between sessions, they learn extra techniques to manage their stress and over time also develop enough inner strength not to reach for a cigarette as soon as the going gets tough.

Please go and listen to the whole interview, I think you will find it very rewarding.

Dr. Sally Witt lives in the US and sees people for private sessions. She wanted to be able to reach more people with her unique blend of counselling and healing strategies, so she put together a programme you can buy online, teaching you many different techniques. You will get extra support with the programme, like the ability to join a chat room, participate in live radio shows where you can ask questions and much more. You will feel supported throughout the whole process.

Check Dr. Sally’s programme out here:

Do you want to stop smoking? Have you tried a number of times without success?

How to Look at Nature and Art

I found this in a Satyananda Yoga Journal from 2001 and wanted to share it with you. I think it is a timeless piece of philosophy. The following was said by Mahatma Ghandi:

I need no inspiration other than mother nature’s. She has never failed me yet.

She mystifies me, bewilders me, sends me into ecstasies. Beside God’s handiwork, does not man fade into insignificance? Have I not gazed at the marvellous mystery of the starry vault, hardly ever tiring of the great panorama?

In order to be truly great, art must be universal in its appeal, like the beauty of Nature. It must be simple in its presentation and direct in its expression like the language of nature.

When I admire the wonders of a sunset or the beauty of the moon, my soul expands in the worship of the creator.

In our blog talk radio show last week I mentioned two more yoga teachers who were trained by the famours teacher Krishnamacharya.

They are A.G. Mohan and Srivatsa Ramaswami.

A.G. Mohan studied with Krishnamacharya from 1971 to 1989 (18 years). His wife, Indra Mohan also received a post-graduate diploma in Yoga from Krishnamacharya. The whole Mohan family is involved in yoga. Ganesh Mohan (the son) is now a well known western medical practitioner combining yoga, ayurvedic medicine and western medicine. Nitya Mohan (the daughter) holds a degree in music and started yoga at a very young age. Her specialty is Vedic chanting and she has toured Europe, the United States, Australia and parts of Asia. You can find one of his books here:

Yoga Therapy: A Guide to the Therapeutic Use of Yoga and Ayurveda for Health and Fitness

Srivatsa Ramaswami studied with Krishnamacharya from 1955 till 1988, for 33 years on a daily basis. He also holds a Masters degree in Industrial Engineering, is married and has two grown up sons. He was dividing his time between teaching yoga, running workshops, writing books and his engineering career. Have a look at one of his books here:

Yoga for the Three Stages of Life: Developing Your Practice As an Art Form, a Physical Therapy, and a Guiding Philosophy

my first digital camera

In todays Stretch Your Mind And Body Blog Talk Radio show, Connie and I discussed using images on your blog and website.

With the technology available for digital cameras now, the quality and size of images that we are downloading to our computer are amazing.  I know that from my digital camera, the images are 600 dpi (dots per inch) and about 2500 pixels wide.  To put that in perspective, 2500 pixels wide is approx. 17 cm.  That is one, very large photo. Business Basics

By Connie On November 17th, 2008 in Mind & Body Connection /

Whenever we hear something interesting or something that resonates with us, we write it down.  Unfortunately sometimes we forget to write down who actually said it.  Here are some very wise business guidelines we came across recently and which we really want to share (but this is one of those instances where we forgot to note the source).

Any business should always have 4 components:

1. Make sure the business makes money.

2. Make sure the business makes a difference.

3. Make sure the business allows you to be more of who you are.

4. Trust in a higher plan or higher source.

If the above holds true then we should be able to apply them to any type of business. Let’s see if it would work for a coffee shop. Can it make money? Yes, certainly. Can it make a difference? Yes, it could - in many different ways: we could put though provoking literature on the tables, we could start interesting discussions with our customers while we make their coffee, we could provide a “haven” for stressed out people, we could donate parts of our profits for a good cause……..Could it allow us to be more of ourselves? It certainly could, if we like people contact, like to chat, are passionate about food and good coffee and love to source the best coffee beans…..

The most tricky point is number 4: Trust into a higher plan or source. This is a very personal thing and it is not something you can learn.  Maybe it has to do with letting go, allowing things to happen and having an open mind. Listen to your intuition and gut feelings and some amazing things might come your way.

Till next time,

Christmas is coming….

By Connie On November 9th, 2008 in Mind & Body Connection /

Christmas is coming. Where did this year go? A couple of weeks ago I received an email with the headline: “Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Christmas sells..”

I was curious and opened it - it was an invitation (from a Government Department) for small business owners to come to a meeting to discuss Christmas selling strategies. Due to other commitments I couldn’t make it to the meeting. I am sure it would have been interesting. So I will put my own thoughts here.

I suppose this coming Christmas won’t be such a cheerful one for a lot of business owners in terms of sales figures. There is no doubt that a lof of the economies in the world have slowed down and that there are a lot more people struggling as a result.

The best indicator on how the economy is faring are the sales figures for lipsticks, champagne, fake jewellery and lingerie. This is not a joke - the higher the sales of those items, the worse the economy. I let you figure this one out yourselves! Lipstick, lingerie, champagne and “bling” jewellery are considered recession proof. There is certainly some food for thought here.

There are also a lot of potential customers who are not really affected by all this turmoil in a material sense BUT - and this is the important thing - their thinking has been affected, the fear factor has set in. They could go on spending as they normally would, but they aren’t.  A lot of them have just become cautious, they feel uncertain about the future and they are holding on to their money.  I don’t know whether all of this economic turmoil and other doom and gloom will actually lead to people re evaluating their life, their lifestyle and their spending choices. It might have a positive impact after all.

People here have started talking about Christmas shopping, what a chore it is, how stressful it is and that they have to start now to get ahead. So far I haven’t heard anybody say that they are not going to buy anything because times are so bad.

Maybe smaller ticket items will be bought or people will look for more value - something that lasts longer or something that will keep its value over time…maybe people will look for something more meaningful.

Maybe it is worth your while running a survey and to ask your past and potential customers whether they will shop differently this Christmas. What changes are they making? Why? What are they most likely to buy? It might give you some ideas for your business.

Till next time,

Connie and Charly
