Another Tip For Selecting A Domain Name
One of the first things you need to do when establishing your online presence is to buy a domain name. I hope that by now you managed to listen to our “Domain Name Interview” which contains lots of useful information- you can get it from http://www.stretchyourmindandbody.com
One thing Charly and I did not discuss during that interview was the fact that the domain name should not be more than 35 characters long (including www. and .com). This means www. and .com count as eight letters already, if you have .au at the end that adds another 3 characters. So you got a maximum of 27 characters to play with.
Why is this important? If you ever want to run a Google Adwords Campaign your URL (the link to your site) must not be longer than 35 characters in total. In case you are not sure what Google adwords are, these ads appear on the right hand side of your screen when you type a search term into Google. On the left hand side you have the “natural” or “organic” search results.
Your immediate reaction might be: I am never going to run an adwords campaign, so it doesn’t matter. Our answer is: You don’t know what the future holds. Your business might grow exponentially and you may want to sell it. You may come to a point in your business where you want to run some Google ads. Sometimes you may need to drive traffic to your site to do a survey, to find out what people want.
Apart from that, the longer the name, the more trouble your customers have to remember it and to spell it correctly.
Till next time
