Anxiety which is usually caused by stress generates a feeling of apprehension, fear and nervousness. Inevitably, this affects an individual’s well-being, as anxiety is accompanied by physical symptoms such as nausea, diarrhea, headaches and heart palpitations. There are many anxiety self help remedies that you can use. While some may experience mild anxiety attacks, others may experience severe ones that will affect their quality of life.
There are several anxiety remedies that can help a person with mild anxiety problem to cope up. Some of these are natural and home remedies, which are commonly used in alleviating the symptoms of anxiety attack.
Aromatherapy
Essential oils help relieves stress and allows the person to relax. These include Bergamot, Cedarwood, Cypress, Geranium, Jasmine, Lavender, Lemon, Melissa, Neroli, Patchouli, Rose, Sandalwood, Sweet Marjoram and Ylang-ylang. These can be used as massage oils, infusers and mix in bath soaps or water.
Exercise and Psychotherapy
Studies show that high-intensity exercises are one of the best remedies for anxiety self help- particularly for women. With regards to individuals suffering from chronic anxiety, they can greatly benefit from aerobic exercise and psychotherapy.
Fish Oil
Numerous studies show that a vital fatty acid known as omega 3 is abundant in fish oil which greatly helps in reducing anxiety and in stabilizing moods.

These mind and body exercises are found helpful in increasing energy level; improving sleeping habits and allowing creativity to flourish.
Motherwort
A good anxiety remedy for women, who have entered their menopausal stage, would be Motherwort. This helps reduces anxiety, hot flashes and insomnia. Motherwort also gives a calming effect in addition to helping stabilizing emotions.
Passionflower
Other herbal anxiety remedies include passionflower, which is used to calm and relax a person. Some studies show that passionflower helps in easing anxiety problems and insomnia. However, a doctor’s consent is needed before a person can use this for medication.
Skullcap
The skullcap herb is known to improve promote good sleep. It also relaxes an individual and helps nourish the nervous system.
St.John’s Wort
Another natural remedy would be St.John’s Wort, which helps restore emotional stability. It is also known to help people who suffer from mild to moderate depression, to cope up.
Valerian
The valerian herb is one of the most popular anxiety remedies for people suffering from anxiety-related insomnia, as well as for those who generally suffer from mild anxiety attack.
Vitamin B
Vitamin B is known to help the body deal with stress which is why eating green leafy vegetables or taking vitamin B supplements can help combat vitamin B deficiency.
Although these anxiety self help remedies can assist in helping individuals cope and hopefully live a better life, it is still crucial for individuals to visit their physicians for a more thorough evaluation in addition to acquiring the proper diagnosis. Moreover, people suffering from anxiety should keep in mind that anxiety is simply a mental state and can recover from this by making a proactive decision to keep a more positive outlook in life.
